Nikolay Samusik

CEO and Co-Founder, Parhelia Biosciences

Nikolay Samusik is a trailblazer in spatial biology, currently at the helm of Parhelia Biosciences as CEO and co-founder. Dedicated to democratizing advanced biological technologies, Nikolay has transformed complex scientific processes into simple, user-friendly solutions. In Gary Nolan’s lab at Stanford University (2013—2019), Nikolay developed cutting-edge algorithms for CyTOF data analysis. This work led to CODEX, a groundbreaking platform for high-parameter tissue imaging. To commercialize CODEX technology, Nikolay co-founded Akoya Biosciences with Nolan and Yury Goltsev. Under Nikolay’s leadership, Akoya Biosciences acquired Opal technology from Perkin Elmer, solidifying its role as a leader in spatial biology. In June 2021, the three spatial biology pioneers founded Parhelia Biosciences to address critical unmet needs in the high-content analysis community. The company aims to make advanced multiomics technologies accessible and affordable for all researchers. By automating sample preparation processing and staining protocols, Parhelia-developed platforms reduce variability, researcher hands-on time, and reagent costs while enhancing data quality. Nikolay's commitment to innovation drives Parhelia Bio's success and influence in the industry, making high-parameter tissue imaging practical worldwide.
